AusStage researchers are using venue data and time-mapping techniques to research the spatial history of live performance in entirely new ways. Recording latitude and longitude values for performance venues will give AusStage a geographic intelligence similar to GPS navigation systems and location-aware mobile phones. Geographically coding performance enables researchers to move beyond the conventional focus on performance events in theatre buildings dating from European settlement. It accommodates the growth of ‘site-specific’ performances and supports ongoing research into performance in regional Australia.

Dear Mappers
I am, unfortunately, unable to attend the cartographies forum this weekend--but am happy to take on my fair share of the geocoding (as you decide).
Regards
